Police Scanner: Attempted Lynching, Assaults and a Cat Spooks Officers on a Stakeout

These are the raw scanner reports from the San Fernando Valley Friday.

Here are the raw data of reports collected Friday by listening to the police scanner. If there are additional details needed, we'll file full news stories on the items and let you know. (Encino crimes are boldfaced.)

3:10 a.m.  11000 block of Tuxford St., Sun Valley

Report of 459 in progress. Dispatch radios to the responding police units that the “p.r.” (person reporting)  started yelling and then disconnected the line. The p.r. had stated he has a gun, but does not have bullets. The p.r. also reported that the suspect tried to make entry through the back door, and then heard a vehicle screeching away. Dispatch advises that the suspect is probably “GOA” (gone on arrival).

6:50 a.m.  Stake-out; somewhere in the San Fernando Valley

An undercover officer and his partner are doing surveillance of a suspect at a building location. One officer tells his partner that “I got blinded through there. I don’t know if it’s the air conditioner …  or somebody tapped it … or a cat. I don’t know,  but it’s (the blinds) swinging back and forth.” His partner informs, “Roger,  there’s a cat inside, it was over near our window and then it left.”

8:53 a.m.  Riverton Avenue and Burbank Boulevard, North Hollywood

LAPD dispatch advises the North Hollywood units of LAUSD police activity. The school police have set up a perimeter near Riverton Avenue and Burbank Boulevard for an “attempted 187 (murder) suspect, for an attempted lynching.”  The suspect is described as a male,  Hispanic,  5’8”,  160 lbs.,  of unknown age,  wearing a white T-shirt with dark sleeves. LAUSD police are requesting LAPD helicopter assistance. (North Hollywood-Toluca Lake Patch is investigating this incident)

 9:00 a.m.  20400 block of Saticoy St., Winnetka

Report of an “ADW / cutting incident“ (Assault with a deadly weapon,  knife involved).  The suspect is a female, Hispanic, wearing blue pants and blue Ugg boots. She is reported to still be at the location, with the whereabouts of the weapon unknown.

10:23 a.m.  2500 Block of Roscomare Rd., near Stone Canyon Reservoir

LAFD responds to a structure fire in the hills.

2:50 p.m.  Coldwater Canyon Avenue and Burbank Boulevard, North Hollywood

LAPD’s Metro Division and North Hollywood Division are strategizing their options concerning a barricaded suspect. He has threatened to harm his own mother and he has a gun. One of the commanders asks if they have “any less-lethal (weapons)?” at the scene.

2:55 p.m.  Coldwater Canyon Boulevard and Burbank Boulevard, North Hollywood

The LAPD SWAT team has moved their armored vehicle into place.

3:03 p.m.  San Fernando Road and Sheldon Street, Pacoima

Dispatch calls out to Valley Traffic Units. “Ambulance traffic (a request for an ambulance to respond to a traffic accident),  San Fernando and Sheldon, at the railroad tracks. Metrolink versus vehicle.”

3:05 p.m.  Intersection of San Fernando Road and Sheldon Street, Pacoima

LAFD dispatches its rescue teams to respond to the scene for a “physical rescue.”

3:07 p.m.  Rubio Avenue, between Magnolia Boulevard and Ventura Boulevard, Encino

Report of a man assaulting a woman. The suspect is described as a male,  white,  5’10”,  wearing a “peach-colored shirt.” The female victim is described as Asian,  wearing a black shirt. They are “no longer at the location.” Dispatch requests police units to respond “code 3” (lights and sirens).

3:13 p.m.  Southbound 5 Freeway and westbound 210 Freeway

CHP reports a “3-vehicle accident with one rollover.” LAFD is called to respond for rescue and possible injuries.

3:13 p.m.  San Fernando Road and Sheldon Road

Battalion 12 arrives on the scene and reports, “One horse down and one rider down.” DOT (Department of Transportation) is requested to “shut down San Fernando Road between Truesdale and Branford.” OCD (Operations Command Dispatch) asks if “Animal Rights” or “Sanitation” is needed on the scene,  considering the horse. Battalion 12 responds: “Sanitation.”

3:15  p.m.  13000 block of Hart St. at Madison Middle School, North Hollywood

Report of “415, man with a gun” (disturbance of the peace,  man with a gun).  Dispatch advises that the “p.r. says the suspect has pulled the weapon out.” The suspect is described as a male,  Hispanic,  wearing a gray long-sleeve shirt,  black jeans.  Units are to respond,  “code 3.”

“Airship” arrives to assist in tracking the suspect.

3:16 p.m.  5900 block of Columbus Ave., Van Nuys

Report of a “male, white, wearing a gray shirt and khaki pants,”  is following the female (who reported the incident).  The suspect is now running after her when she started running to get away.

3:40 p.m.  8500 block of Dorrington Ave. and Truesdale Street, Arleta

Report of residential “211” (robbery). The suspect is described as a “tall, male,  Hispanic, 6’8”, thin build, short hair, no cap, wearing a red and blue multi-color flannel shirt and blue jeans.” The suspect was last seen on foot,  going southbound on Dorrington Avenue.

3:55 p.m.  6700 block of Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood

Report of a “211.”  The suspects are three male Hispanics; Suspect #1 is described as “heavy set,”  5’2” to 5’5”,  150 to 160 lbs.,  20 to 25 years old, wearing a fishing hat,  green-blue sweater and blue jeans. They were seen fleeing on foot southbound on Lankershim Boulevard. Property taken was $40,000 in cash.  The suspects used pepper spray to disable their victims.

5:59 p.m.  6500 block of Mason Ave. and Victory Boulevard, Woodland Hills

Report of a multiple car accident.

6:52 p.m.  5500 block of Laurel Canyon Blvd., North Hollywood

Patrol unit on scene reports “Code 4” (no other police units need respond) on the scene.  Their “Code 6 Charles Suspect” (on scene,  dangerous suspect ) is now in custody.

8:01 p.m.  2300 block of Roscomare Rd., near Stone Canyon Reservoir

LAFD is called to respond to an “o.d.” (overdose)

8:01 p.m.  Variel Street and Sherman Way, Canoga Park

Report of a traffic accident involving a pedestrian.

8:20 p.m.  Shadow Hills Presbyterian Church, Sunland

Rescue 881 arrives on the scene. They are asked to upgrade to an “emergency response.”

8:49 p.m.  7400 block of Lankershim Boulevard, North Hollywood

Report of a possible “GTA” (grand theft auto). The suspects are described as two Armenian males, abandoning an old model gray Honda station wagon with no license plates. The suspects left the car in the road with the engine running.
