Police Scanner Report: Severe Sunday Weather Causes Fallen Trees, Downed Power Lines and Traffic Accidents

These are the raw scanner reports from Sunday and Monday around the San Fernando Valley.

Here are the raw data of reports collected Sunday and Monday by listening to the police scanner. If there are additional details needed, we'll file full news stories on the items and let you know. (Boldfaced communities are covered by Patch sites.)

Severe weather struck the San Fernando Valley Sunday afternoon, causing the National Weather Service to issue a wind advisory and a flash flood warning. The LAFD reported a 62 percent increase in 911 calls as a result of the severe weather. Click on the attached video to see dramatic clips and photos from the day.

9:03 p.m. 9900 block of De Soto Avenue, Chatsworth
Report of a “GTA” (grand theft auto). Auto taken was a black Nissan Sentra.

9:08 p.m. Northbound 5 Freeway, near Roxford Street exit, Sylmar
LAFD is responding to a call for a vehicle roll-over. Caller states that the vehicle has tumbled off the side of the roadway.

9:23 p.m. Roscoe Boulevard and Peoria Street, Sun Valley
Valley Traffic Division is called to an injury traffic accident at the intersection. An ambulance is on the way.

9:30 p.m.
Hartsook Street, between Radford Avenue and Ben Avenue, North Hollywood
LAPD is called for a “downed tree.”

9:33 p.m. Vista Del Monte Avenue, from Wyandotte Street to Valerio Street, Valley Glen
LAFD responds to the scene and finds power lines had fallen down, stretching for 2 blocks.

9:38 p.m. Louise Avenue and Sherman Way, Lake Balboa
Report of an injury traffic accident at the intersection. LAPD and LAFD are called to respond.

9:46 p.m. 19000 block of Ventura Boulevard, Tarzana
LAFD has responded to a “still alarm” (automatic alarm call to the Fire Department) and report to Operations Command Dispatch (OCD) that there is possible flooding in the building.

9:50 p.m. Victory Boulevard and Tampa Street, Reseda
LAFD is called to a traffic accident at the intersection.

9:53 p.m. Chandler Boulevard and Irvine Avenue, North Hollywood
LAPD is searching for a tree that was reported to have fallen in the street in the area.

10:03 p.m. 12300 block of Burbank Boulevard, North Hollywood
LAFD is dispatched to the apartment complex for a medical emergency.

10:08 p.m. 6200 block of Kester Avenue, Van Nuys
LAFD is called to respond to a fallen tree in the roadway causing a safety issue.

10:12 p.m. Ventura Boulevard, between Colfax Street and Tujunga Street, Studio City
LAPD is called regarding another fallen tree in the roadway causing a traffic hazard.

10:14 p.m. 7500 block of Alabama Avenue, Canoga Park
LAFD’s Engine 72 is called to respond to yet another “tree down” causing a safety issue.

10:18 p.m. Southbound 5 Freeway at Laurel Canyon Boulevard, Arleta
A 911 call for a traffic accident on the freeway. LAFD is responding.

10:21 p.m. 5 Freeway near the Paxton Street off-ramp, Arleta
Another 911 call for a traffic accident on the freeway. LAFD responds to the scene and reports a “single-vehicle roll-over.” They advise that the occupants are already outside of the vehicle, and they will check them for any injuries.

10:49 p.m. 6700 Lurline Avenue, Canoga Park
LAPD receives a 911 call reporting a “screaming woman heard.”

11:00 p.m. Mulholland Drive and Cahuenga Boulevard, Cahuenga Pass
LAPD receives a call about debris in the roadway causing a traffic hazard.

11:09 p.m. Victory Boulevard and Sylmar Street, Van Nuys
LAFD is called to a traffic accident at the intersection.

11:09 p.m. 5700 block of Lankershim Boulevard, North Hollywood
LAPD is requested to respond to the traffic accident with injuries. An LAFD ambulance is needed.

11:10 p.m. Mulholland Drive and Laurel Canyon Boulevard, Studio City
LAFD is called to respond to heavy debris flow at the hilltop intersection. The fire unit at the scene has also encountered boulders and trees on Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Kirkwood Drive.

11:18 p.m. A street in the San Fernando Valley
Witnesses tell police that a DUI driver hit a parked car before causing the traffic collision involving another moving vehicle.

11:20 p.m. Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Dona Pegita Drive, Studio City
LAPD is dispatched to a traffic hazard situation in the hilly and winding stretch of Laurel Canyon Boulevard. A car is disabled in the middle of the road and blocking traffic.

11:26 p.m. 17700 block of Saticoy Avenue, Reseda
LAFD is called for an emergency response to an assault victim.

11:28 p.m. 4200 block of Radford Avenue, North Hollywood
LAFD’s Light Force 70 reports an unusual flow of water coming out of a manhole cover in the alley. Request for DWP to respond to the scene.

11:46 p.m. San Fernando Valley
A police unit has responded to the scene of “a large tree on top of two residences.”

11:47 p.m. 6100 block of Le Sage Avenue, West Hills
Light Force 105 is dispatched to an emergency medical situation.

11:48 p.m. Ventura Boulevard and Eureka Drive, Studio City
Report of a stranded motorist creating traffic hazard situation. Dispatch advises a “one hour E.T.A” due to the influx of emergency calls.

11:50 p.m. 6300 block of Bakman Avenue, North Hollywood
Report of a female vandalizing residential property.

11:56 p.m. 6100 block of Le Sage Avenue, West Hills
Light Force 105 requests the police to meet them at the scene, where there is a possible alcohol poisoning incident.

Monday

12:06 a.m. 12555 Ventura Boulevard, Studio City
Report of a “code 30 ringer (automatic burglar alarm for an immediate police response) at the Bed, Bath and Beyond.”

12:07 a.m. 9900 block of Reseda Boulevard, Northridge
Report of a possible structure fire at an apartment building.

12:08 a.m. 14200 block of Nordhoff Street, Panorama City
LAPD’s dispatcher calls to responding Mission District units that the “family dispute” is now an “unknown trouble” incident. Another 911 call has been received from the same residence, but this time there is “no response heard.”

12:13 a.m. Saticoy Street and Bellaire Avenue, Valley Glen
LAFD radios to OCD that the traffic lights at the intersection are not working. They advise contacting the Department of Transportation about the issue.

12:53 a.m. 13200 block of Saticoy Street, Valley Glen
Report of an injury traffic accident involving a black BMW and a green Lexus. A Valley Traffic unit and an ambulance are requested to respond to the scene.

1:33 a.m. 7800 block of Lankershim Boulevard, North Hollywood
Report of a “man / woman dispute” at a family shelter. LAPD is requested to respond to a possible domestic violence incident with “small children inside the location.”

1:33 a.m. Cleveland High School, Northridge
LAFD continues to receive automatic fire alarm calls from the high school. This is the second time the fire department has responded to the scene only to discover a malfunctioning alarm system. LAFD requests contacting someone at the school district to determine a resolution to the situation, as the alarm company and the security company are not answering their calls.

2:20 a.m. 20200 block of Sherman Way, Winnetka
Possible shooting occurred. Caller reports hearing shots and “a woman heard running from second floor of the complex.”

2:43 a.m. On a street in North Hollywood
LAFD Engine 86 radios to Operations Command Dispatch that they have come across a downed power pole with live electrical wires that are arcing.

2:51 a.m. 12300 Osborne Street, Pacoima
Foothill Division of the LAPD receives a 911 call of “unknown trouble.”

2:52 a.m. 17600 Burbank Boulevard, Encino
West Valley LAPD patrol unit dispatched to a 911 call of “unknown trouble.”

3:00 a.m. Topanga Canyon Boulevard and 101 Freeway, Woodland Hills
LAFD responds to a “person down, Topanga Canyon and 101 Freeway.”
