Reports of a Man Threatening His Girlfriend With a Hammer, Hit-and-Run, Possible Arson

These are the raw scanner reports from Friday and Saturday around the San Fernando Valley.

Here are the raw data of reports collected Friday and Saturday by listening to the police scanner. If there are additional details needed, we'll file full news stories on the items and let you know. (Boldfaced communities are covered by Patch sites.)

Friday

6 p.m. Victory Boulevard and Whitsett Avenue, North Hollywood
Report of a reckless driver in a black BMW. The person is seen driving westbound on Victory Boulevard and appears to be drunk.

6:03 p.m. 3300 block of Barham Boulevard, Cahuenga Pass
Report of assault with a deadly weapon, involving a 58 year-old man who is “armed with a hammer, and threatened to kill his girlfriend.” (Click on the attached video to hear the LAPD discuss this incident on the police scanner.)

6:12 p.m. Northbound 101 Freeway at the Van Nuys Boulevard exit, Sherman Oaks
An LAFD unit is on its way to a call and observes a reckless driver. The fire unit radios an alert to the LAPD about a “late model Toyota driving erratically” as it exits the freeway onto Van Nuys Boulevard.

6:21 p.m. Magnolia Boulevard and Vineland Avenue, North Hollywood
A report of shoplifting. A witness is waiting at the location and will direct LAPD to the possible suspects; one is identified as having a “black backpack” and the other one has a “white and pink backpack.”

6:23 p.m. 3300 block of Barham Boulevard, Cahuenga Pass
LAPD units are now on the scene for the assault with a deadly weapon call. One officer advises to dispatch, “the suspect is in custody.”

7:22 p.m. 8700 block of Langdon Avenue, North Hills
LAFD responds to a fire alarm call at a “garden-style apartment complex.” They report evidence of “light smoke.”

7:25 p.m. Balboa Boulevard and Sherman Way, Lake Balboa
Report of a possible attempted suicide. LAPD is notified to find the person reporting the incident in a “gray-blue Prius.” He states that he is a friend of the subject who is in a separate car, which is described as a “white Acura Integra, lowered, with H.I.D. lights and yellow fog lamps.”

8:02 p.m. Vanowen Street and Tampa Avenue, Reseda
Report of a traffic accident at the intersection.

8:25 p.m. Sherman Way and Lindley Avenue, Reseda
Report of a traffic accident at the intersection.

8:30 p.m. Cahuenga Boulevard and Barham Boulevard, Cahuenga Pass
“Road rage” incident. The angry driver is reported to be in a 2010 silver Mercedes-Benz sedan, and has “turned left onto Cahuenga Boulevard from Barham Street.”

8:32 p.m. 7600 block of Eton Avenue, Canoga Park
Report of assault with a deadly weapon. The assault suspect is described to be possibly “under the influence of an unknown substance.”

8:36 p.m. 10200 North Sepulveda Boulevard, Mission Hills
Report of a possible “hold-up” at the check-cashing business.

8:43 p.m. 17900 block of Burbank Boulevard, at Newcastle Avenue, Van Nuys
LAFD is called for an emergency response to a “sick person.”

9:15 p.m.
12200 block of Covello Street, North Hollywood
Task Force 89 is on the scene of a possible structure fire at a “two-story, single-family dwelling.” They report that there is “nothing showing.”

9:27 p.m.
Kittridge Street and Murrietta Avenue, Van Nuys
Call for an ambulance response to a traffic accident. An “unverified air bag deployment from a black BMW” is reported.

9:37 p.m. 6600 block of Simpson Avenue, North Hollywood
Report of “two males fighting in the parking lot off Kittridge Street.” The witness heard one male say to the other, “I'm going to kill you if you breathe."

9:52 p.m. 11000 block of Kittridge Avenue, North Hollywood
Report of another fight.

9:54 p.m. Valley Spring Lane and Vantage Avenue, Studio City
Report of a possible arson. The suspects are seen “throwing an unknown substance into the yard.” They were last seen driving away in an older-model “box-style Mercedes-Benz,” possibly a vehicle “from the 80’s.” They fled northbound on Vantage Avenue.

10:33 p.m. Riverside Drive and Placidia Avenue, North Hollywood
LAFD responds to a report of a traffic accident involving a “sheared fire hydrant.”

10:35 p.m. 11900 block of Lemp Street, North Hollywood
Report of a “man with a shopping cart” stealing items from a construction site.

10:36 p.m. 10300 block of Woodbridge Street, Toluca Lake
Report of a “screaming woman.” The person reporting cannot actually see the woman visually.

10:47 p.m. 101 Freeway and Vineland Avenue, Studio City
LAFD asks fire dispatch to notify CHP of a disabled car “facing the wrong way of traffic.” The car is spotted on the 101 Freeway near the Vineland Avenue off-ramp.

11:30 p.m.
Beverly Park Drive, Beverly Hills
LAFD’s Engine 108 responds to a fire alarm call. They observe that “this is a very large, possibly 40,000 square foot, single-family dwelling.” They radio to hold the assignment as an emergency.

11:52 p.m. 12500 block of Magnolia Boulevard, Sherman Village
LAPD is called to respond to a burglar alarm at Rite-Aid.

Saturday
12:30 a.m. 13200 Landale Street, Sherman Oaks
Report of a “screaming woman, in the corner apartment.”

1:09 a.m. Nordhoff Street and Woodman Avenue, Arleta
LAPD radios a call for an ambulance, a “hit-and-run” incident.

1:48 a.m. 5588 Lankershim Boulevard, North Hollywood
The street corner in front of the Los Burritos restaurant. LAPD officers detain a man who states that he was only urinating outside (a club) when “security popped him.” One of the officers describes the man as having bloody facial wounds consistent with being in a fight. Since the officer is not sure about the man’s story, he radios another patrol unit, now believing that the man may possibly be involved in the fighting incident that the other officers are currently investigating. They detain him for the other patrol unit to interview.

2:24 a.m. 6200 De Soto Avenue, Woodland Hills
Report of “restraining order violation.” The suspect is described as a female, “who is on top of the roof.”
