Residential Burglaries in Encino and Tarzana on the Rise

The LAPD West Valley Division has released this warning to residents.

Advisory: There has been an increase in residential burglaries in the Tarzana & Encino Area.

Here are a few reminders to help residents not become victims.

*Lock your side gates (it tends to slow down a burglar, which may send them elsewhere)
*Lock your doors and set your alarm. (A burglar will choose the easiest target)
*If you see something suspicious call the non-emergency number 877-275-5273. If you are advised by communications they cannot send a patrol unit ask to be transferred to you division front desk.

Be prepared to give the officer a detailed description of the suspect’s actions and description including:

Suspect:
Sex, Age, Height, Weight, Hair color, Hair Style, Complexion, Facial hair, Tattoos, Scars, Clothing, Hat, Shirt, Pants, any additional info that would make that person stand out.

Vehicle:
License plate number, Year, Make, Model, Color, Style, ant additional info that would make the vehicle stand out.

Additionally we are aware of the problem and have dispatched additional patrol units in the area to combat this problem. We have also dispatched plain cloths Officers in the area. If you are approached by a person claiming to be an officer and are concerned verify his or her identification.
