One person suffered major injuries in a rollover crash involving multiple vehicles on the westbound Ventura (101) Freeway today that temporarily shut down several lanes, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The crash -- which involved at least two vehicles -- took place just before 2 p.m. on the westbound 101 Freeway near the Van Nuys Boulevard exit, according to CHP Officer Patrick Kimball.
It blocked the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes for an hour, Kimball said.
One person was transported to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center with major injuries, possibly a severed hand, Kimball and fire department spokeswoman Katherine Main said.
One other person suffered minor injuries, Kimball said.
The CHP declared a SigAlert at 2:03 p.m. to clear the accident and remove the injured, Kimball explained. The lanes were finally cleared at 2:58 p.m., he said.
