A 35-year-old substitute special education teacher's assistant in the Los Angeles Unified School District for the past six years was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of distribution of child pornography.
Frank Hernandez Jr. was arrested at his home in the San Fernando Valley and booked at the Van Nuys Jail, where he was being held in lieu of $20,000 bail. His community was not publicly identified.
LAUSD spokeswoman Monica Carazo told the Associated Press that Hernandez was let go from the district for "unsatisfactory service" on Wednesday.
Carazo said Hernandez was hired by the district on Jan. 8, 2008, and worked on and off at Panorama High School.
The arrest was made by the Los Angeles Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force which includes the Los Angeles Police Department, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and Department of Homeland Security.
