Suspect Identified in Deadly Tarzana Shooting

One woman dies and a man is hospitalized after shots are fired Saturday evening on Vanalden Avenue.

A 49-year-old man was hospitalized and a 51-year-old woman was killed in a shooting in Tarzana, and the woman's ex-husband was arrested in connection with the crime, police announced Sunday.

Hrant Meguerian, 59, was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder and attempted murder, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Meguerian remained at the scene of the shooting, which happened about 7:20 p.m. Saturday at a home in the 4500 block of Vanalden Avenue in Tarzana, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Officers arriving at the scene found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds, and the man and woman were taken to hospitals for treatment.

Police said the woman died at the hospital and the man remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition. Neither victim has been identified.

Investigators believe Meguerian was involved in an argument with the male victim before the suspect allegedly took out a gun and shot both victims.

Meguerian was taken into custody by responding officers. He is being held on $1 million bail.
