Tarzana Apartment Fire Damages Kitchen

It took 39 firefighters to knock down the blaze in 14 minutes.

A non-injury fire damaged the kitchen of a Tarzana apartment today, but no one was injured, authorities said.

The fire was reported at 5:27 p.m. in a first-floor unit of a two-story apartment building in the 18100 block of Killion Street, according to Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

A total of 39 firefighters responded and knocked the flames down in 14 minutes, confining the damage to the apartment's kitchen, he said.

One person who had been inside the unit managed to get out safely, Scott said.
