Tuesday Police Scanner Report

Two possible suicide jumpers over two different freeways and a hit-and-run are some the calls the LAPD and LAFD respond to in the San Fernando Valley on Tuesday.

Tuesday Morning

12:01 a.m. 11600 block of Friar Street, North Hollywood

LAPD units are investigating a that took place less than an hour before. Two men were shot at from a passing car while they were standing in the driveway of an apartment complex. One victim was hit in the arm, another in the leg. Witnesses are unable to give police a description of the car or suspect/s.

8:37 a.m. 5200 block of Harmony Avenue, North Hollywood
An LAFD rescue ambulance responds to help a sick person at the residence.

8:44 a.m. Moorpark Street and Calhoun Avenue, Van Nuys
Van Nuys Division LAPD patrol units are called to investigate a "screaming
woman" heard near the intersection. A "male, white, wearing a blue shirt"
was reported to have been seen with a woman at the location. Patrol officers
are directed to respond "code 3."

8:57 a.m. Foothill Boulevard and Balboa Boulevard, Sylmar
Mission Division LAPD patrol units are responding "code 3" to investigate a
suicide jumper on the hillside near the Golden State Freeway. The possible
jumper is described as a 50-year-old man wearing shorts, and he is "at the
top of the hill, at the edge of the cliff, attempting to jump onto the
northbound freeway."

9:03 a.m. Somewhere in the San Fernando Valley
LAPD is alerted to a possible "restraining order violation" at the
residence. The person reporting believes the alleged violator is hiding
somewhere under the house, and the Metro Division K-9 unit is called for
possible assistance. The K-9 unit communicates with the police helicopter
that is currently over the incident scene, and informs them that since it is
"only a restraining order violation," and nothing more serious, the K-9 unit
cannot respond to this sort of assignment. The patrol officers in that
division will have to search for the possible violator without canine help.

9:19 a.m. Magnolia Boulevard and Vineland Avenue, North Hollywood
LAPD Valley Traffic units are called to the scene of an "ambulance traffic"
incident at the intersection. They are to respond "code 3" (emergency
response with lights and sirens) and meet LAFD at the scene.

9:35 a.m. 101 Freeway, between Glendale Boulevard and the 110 Freeway, near Downtown
Los Angeles
LAPD is notified of a possible "attempted suicide" jumper on an overpass to
the 101 Freeway. A woman is seen "standing on the rails."

9:49 a.m. 5300 block of Foothill Boulevard, Crescenta Highlands
Foothill Division LAPD patrol units are called to respond "code 3" to a
battery incident at the location. The possible battery suspect is still at
the scene.

9:55 a.m. In the mountain trails above Canoga Park
LAFD has been notified about "lost hiker" on the mountain hiking trails. The
reporting party states that the hiker is past due in arriving to her
destination. LAFD 72 radios Operations Command Dispatch and asks if they
received more information about the "lost hiker."

10:10 a.m. In the mountain trails above Canoga Park
LAFD calls off the search, after LAFD's helicopter and several rescue teams
are now on their way.  The "lost hiker" has finally made her appearance at
her destination safely, though delayed.

10:15 a.m. 7200 Alabama Street, Canoga Park
LAFD Rescue 72 is called to the scene to help a diabetic person at the
apartment address.

10:25 a.m. 11300 block of Hamlin Street, North Hollywood
North Hollywood Division LAPD patrol units are called to the scene of an
"ambulance, suicide" at the residence. This is a possible suicide attempt
and an ambulance is called because the victim may still show vital signs.

10:29 a.m. Stagg Street and Peach Avenue, Van Nuys
Van Nuys Division LAPD patrol units are called to investigate a "man
assaulting a woman."
A male dressed "in all black" is seen attacking a female "with red hair."
The two are seen on foot,  heading toward Sepulveda Boulevard.

10:30 a.m. 11300 block of Hamlin Street, North Hollywood
A North Hollywood patrol unit is at the scene of the attempted suicide.
There is discussion about the location of the weapon used, and the patrol
unit advises that "FD (the Fire Department rescue team) is now at the
scene."

12:36 p.m. 8200 block of Van Nuys Boulevard, Panorama City
LAFD Rescue 81 is dispatched to the person suffering "a seizure" at the
business location.

12:36 p.m. 6700 block of De Soto Avenue, Canoga Park
Engine 72 and Rescue 72 are dispatched to help a sick person at the
residence.

12:54 p.m. Sepulveda Boulevard and Nordhoff Street, North Hills
Valley Traffic Division and Mission Division LAPD units are called to the
scene of an "ambulance, hit-and-run, felony" at the intersection. The
alleged hit-and-run suspect's "blue 4-door vehicle" was last seen fleeing
southbound on Sepulveda Boulevard.
