UPDATE: 11 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Wreck on 405 Freeway in Van Nuys

UPDATE 12:40 p.m. Eleven people were injured today, one seriously, in a multi-vehicle wreck that  blocked all lanes of the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway in Van Nuys for about two hours, snarling mid-morning traffic heading into the Sepulveda Pass.

The collision was reported about 9:30 a.m. near Sherman Way, and involved a big rig, a catering truck and four other vehicles, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Paramedics took seven people to hospitals, one with serious injuries and six with minor-to-moderate injuries, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Four other people were treated at the scene and released.

The southbound lanes remained blocked until about 11:25 a.m., when the three left lanes were reopened. The other lanes were reopened about 20 minutes later.
