How Residents of L.A. City Council District 3 Voted in the 2012 Election

Local voters give overwhelming support for President Obama.

Residents of Los Angeles Council District 3, which includes Tarzana and Woodland Hills, as well as Canoga Park, Reseda and Winnetka, voted overwhelmingly for President Obama in Tuesday's election. President Obama gained 38,870 votes in CD3, while Mitt Romney gained 19,704.

Data of election returns provided by the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder's office, broken down by city council district, show more than 60,862 of District 3's registered voters cast ballots, which is 49.93 percent of the district's voting population. Residents of CD3 are represented by Councilman Dennis Zine.

Within CD3, more voters cast their ballots in favor of Measures 30, 35, 36, 39, 40, B, J and MM and against Measures 31, 32, 33, 34, 37, 38 and Special Advisory Measure A.

More CD3 voters favored Rep. Brad Sherman than Rep. Howard Berman, and State Senator Fran Pavley than Todd Zink.

CD 3 is a Democratic district. Hopefully our next city council member will be a Democrat and not a Republican turned independent. I do see 8 people have filed to run for CD 3.
