Mark Herd has jumped into the campaign to unseat Councilman Paul Koretz in the March 5 election.
Koretz has already raised $150,000 for the 5th District race. Herd told the Daily News that he has yet to to begin fundraising.
A founder of the Westwood Neigborhood Council, Herd told the Daily News he is not familiar with the Valley portion of the district, which includes Encino. However, "When it comes to Valley issues, I tell people I would keep an open mind and listen to everyone to try to do what's right for the community and what people want," Herd said.
"The reason I'm running? To be honest, one of them is accountability in this election," Herd told the Daily News. "I think in a democracy we need to stimulate the conversation and no one should run unopposed."
