Krekorian's Staff Take a Ride Down the L.A. River

See photos of a part of the river many people never see.

The Los Angeles River has recently opened for trips down the river by boat. Los Angeles City Councilman Paul Krekorian's staff took a ride down the river on Friday morning, and shared their photos with us.

Krekorian said:

"My staff spent part of its morning today with the Los Angeles Conservation Corp. and others kayaking down a 1.5-mile stretch of the Los Angeles River in the Valley. Among other things, the tour offered a unique opportunity to see, up close and personal, the extraordinary lengths groups like the conservation corp. and many others, such as Councilman Ed Reyes, have gone to ensure the river becomes a navigable waterway for residents. In addition, the tour provided an in-depth look at the environmental hazards in the river - the wasted shopping carts, plastic bags strewn about the trees and discarded water bottles that litter the waterway. Please think twice before buying a bottle of water or using a plastic bag and see paddletheriver.org for more information on LA River tours."
