What Can the Next City Attorney do to Help Residents in Land Use Battles With Developers?

City Attorney election candidates Carmen Trutanich and Mike Feuer weigh in on a tricky question.

“This is a question that is near and dear to a number of us who have been involved in land use battles on behalf of residents at City Hall,” Rob Glushon, a past president of the Encino Neighborhood Council, told a gathering of about 100 people this past Wednesday while moderating a candidates forum for the May 21 election for City Attorney.

“The question is, how can you, as City Attorney, represent local residents who were promised protection when projects were built” under certain conditions of approval, “while at the same time representing the department that may not be doing its job of enforcing those city conditions?”
