Who Is the Glendora Person of the Year?

TIME magazine named President Barack Obama their person of the year. Tell us who you think should win from our town!

On Dec. 19, Time magazine named President Barack Obama as their Person of the Year.

“For finding and forging a new majority, for turning weakness into opportunity and for seeking, amid great adversity, to create a more perfect union, Barack Obama is TIME's 2012 Person of the Year,” Time managing editor Richard Stengel explained in his note to readers.

The magazine invited votes on 40 candidates, including Obama, Gabby Douglas and Kim Jong Un. Other options included The Mars Rover and the Higgs Boson Particle.

But who cares about the same-old, same-old? Who is Glendora’s Person of the Year—the man or woman who, in Timespeak, “most influenced the news this year for better or worse?”

Tell us your pick in the comment section below!

Glendora should be proud to name Zak Bushey for citizen of the year. I went to school with Zak many years ago, but am in contact with him still. He has been a hero for many children in Glendora and actually around the world. Just last month, a distant relative who lives in Canada,(whom Zak has never even met) was diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer, and has been given 6 months to live. Knowing Zak donates his time with "Make A Wish Foundation" I contacted Zak as we only had a week to his 18th birthday, sure enough with his help we were able to get my relative the wish he wanted. Also for the community of Glendora Zak also created his own toy drive to give to the Glendora families who we're in need this Christmas season. He never ask for anything in return, he does these kind things because it's the right thing to do. The world needs more people like him, I am a better person for knowing him, and once you meet him, you will be too!

Officer Wendell from code enforcement. The man tirelessly pursues a thankless job. He is an efficient professional who deserves the resident's recognition.

I was raised in Glendora and am proud to recommend Zak Bushey for the Citizen Of The Year. Zak has changed lives through the "Make A Wish Foundation" and has also made a difference in many families lives in his community. Zak became involved with the passing of Mark which affected us all. He headed a "Toy Drive" this year and has gone above and beyond as a resident of Glendora. We need more residents like Zak and I don't know anyone who is more deserving of the honor.
