Can't Put That Book Down? TELL US What You're Reading!

Summertime is a great time to relax, slap on some sunscreen and crack open a book. What's on YOUR summer reading list?

After 'googling' some recent books to mention in this article, then being taken by some of the story descriptions I read, I myself have decided to check out some physical, "analog" books that I might want to read for enjoyment!

I know there's all sorts of e-books available now, but I don't yet own an iPad or a Kindle, and the thought of being dependent on battery power makes the simplicity of a traditional book all that more appealing.

But I can see the advantage of having dozens or hundreds of titles conveniently available on one small device that's so easy to carry; theoretically millions of titles, if you count all the possible 'cloud-based' content. And who wouldn't want to save their back?

If you're in the same boat as me, still looking for some books to enjoy, here's a small list of new titles mentioned in the New York Times Book Review, to get you started, plus a mention of some of the most popular titles on Amazon.com and suggestions by Publisher's Weekly.

CALICO JOE, by John Grisham, is a Doubleday Hardcover that lists for $24.95. "A pitcher beans a promising rookie, ending both their careers; years later, the pitcher’s son brings them together." (NYT)

GONE GIRL, by Gillian Flynn, is a Crown hardcover that lists for $25. "A woman disappears on the day of her fifth anniversary; is her husband a killer?" (NYT)

THE BATMAN ARCHIVES VOL. 8, by various, is a DC Comics hardcover graphic novel that lists for $59.99. "The chronicle of the early adventures of the Dark Knight continues. In this volume: Batman meets the Red Hood and gets a new Batmobile." (NYT)

Of course there's the popular Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins, available in all the major retail stores; and there's also that naughty, "mommy-rotica" e-book series (Fifty Shades of Grey) by E.L. James, that's selling so crazy on Amazon.com.

Take a look at all the best sellers on the New York Times' lists.

Here's some recommendations from publishersweekly.com.

And of course, you can just browse and search at Amazon.com.
