Protect Prop 13: Come and hear about the threat to raise your property taxes

You're invited to a free wine-tasting event Wednesday night, June 19, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Total Wine in Northridge. It's located at 19336 Nordhoff Street, at the SW corner of Tampa Avenue, near Best Buy.

We'll be talking about the effort by California lawmakers to gut Proposition 13 with a series of state constitutional amendments that would lower the vote needed to raise property taxes from the current two-thirds all the way down to 55 percent.

Today, Tuesday, June 18, the state Senate's Elections Committee is considering Senate Constitutional Amendment 3, 7, 9 and 11, which would make it easier to pass parcel taxes, transportation taxes, and more. On Saturday, when no one was looking, the state Assembly passed Assembly Constitutional Amendment 8 to make it easier to raise property taxes to pay for infrastructure.

This has to stop, and as a candidate for the California Assembly, I intend to inform the voters about what their government is trying to do to them.
