Would love a bookstore! This location has a great area outside for coffee and tea and reading yourRead More newly purchased materials!

Bookstore/tea-coffee-bev & bites with a relaxing vibe open late.

The sushi restaurant across the way looks fancy. How about an S Factor or bookstore in the vacantRead More spot? I agree with you CMM- dtox day spa is such a hidden gem! That's where " 40-year-old Virgin" was filmed. i like that these new owners took over the spa and made it a high-end luxury boutique day spa like dtox. Their Signature Experience massage is heaven. That reminds me - I cannot wait to send my mom there for Mother's Day for her annual Oxygen Facial!

My family loves Fresh and Easy and were so happy they opened in Encino. I work in San FranciscoRead More during the week and I wish there was one near my office (where many people ride public transportation). The breads and pastries are amazing and my family loves their prepared foods. I'm not sure where the people who have left comments shop, but it doesn't sound like Fresh and Easy.
Grahaem Kerr IV April 18, 2013 at 02:23 pm
All that Mexican meat & produce sells better in TJ then Encino. THe meat looked likeRead More cardboard, the prices were fair, I do admit their bread was good....

It's a good idea in a place like London, when commuters leave the Tube to walk home and can't carryRead More a lot. But USA mass transit is virtually non-existent so US consumers drive their own vehicles and don't have much need for a small Tesco or Waitrose type shop. Los Angeles certainly isn't the market for it. I wonder how it does in San Francisco and NYC.

Mazel Tov! Can't wait to visit this summer when we are in Encino! Looking forward to trying theRead More cupcakes. More Kosher is perfect! Good luck with your life-long dream :) Jamie, MA ps.Marvin, Split a cupcake with someone for moderation. Are you in need of a sweet?

One of the hidden treasures in the valley. I was a regular there while I lived in LA, truly miss it.Read More Go and get yourself some OFF THE HOOK.
Willard Simms April 12, 2013 at 01:07 am
Yes, I eat there regularly and it's excellent! Especially the blackened tuna. I always ask themRead More what's fresh and they tell me, and you can't beat the prices for fresh fish.

This is the "restaurant" replacing Islands: My Fit Foods (www.myfitfoods.com). There isRead More a "coming soon" banner at the location.
Dick Carter April 11, 2013 at 03:27 pm
Outrageous rent for 7,500 sq. ft. can be significant, when your typical restaurant need is aroundRead More 4,500 sq. ft. instead. The landlord may have been justified in the increase, but if you as a tenant can't afford it, well, it is time to move, and thus the relocation to the MetroArt project in Sherman Oaks. But why the reference to the Encino Commons? Huh?!
valerie strauss April 11, 2013 at 11:48 am
FYI Islands closed because of the outrageous increase in rent at that location. This was theRead More explanation given from management.
Stuart Kricun April 24, 2013 at 02:01 pm
I'm just curious...what kind of restaurant are they opening where you have to order food and pay forRead More it before being seated? A cafeteria?
JoAnn Freedman April 11, 2013 at 06:55 pm
Yay! I'm happy about this! Thank goodness another CVS is not opening up! :)
Elaine Sabih April 9, 2013 at 04:34 pm
Hooray for you, Johni Bee !!! I'm truly sick of CHASE and CVS. American Food sounds wonderful.

Congratulations Lisa! You and your family deserve all the success in the world. Hard work pays offRead More and you should be proud of all your accomplishments! xoxo

Tim thats so friggin funny, they have bastardized the streets, views, pedestrian access & PUBLICRead More SAFETY by allowing CBS Media to place those horrendous AD on the sidewalks @ many sidewalks near intersections & crosswalks ...any claims that LA is against sign blight, etc. is pure BS, they city counsel are useless....LAPD is too busy busting fruit sellers on sidewalks for this guy

The patch forgets to mention that advertising on public property in L.A. is a misdemeanor!

I have the fondest memories of running down to Domingo's (We lived on Empress AVe.) and scooping upRead More the freshest, still warm sourdough, sliced ham and cheeses ,and the most delicious pizza, and running home to watch the Rams play football . This was in the late 50's and the 60's. Domingo's made for a fabulous weekend. The frozen raviolis kept us going doing the week. Such delicious food. I can still smell and taste it. . .it makes my mouth water over 50 years later!! I will visit again soon and indulge all my childhood memories. I am so glad they are not only still there, but they are expanding!

I thought Senator Feinstein and Boxer were investigating the price gouging and were going to exposeRead More the true villains involved in jacking up oil prices. Did they find anything sinister or were they blowing smoke in an election year. This is exactly what our President and representatives want, $5.00 per gallon gas.

I had no idea that metal bowls make them turn brown faster. I'm a huge avocado lover. Great info,Read More thank you!
LG Joe February 3, 2013 at 06:05 pm
I reserve one of the pits and put it in the guacamole when storing it. I don't know why, but it hasRead More delayed the guacamole from browing longer than without. As Brenda shared, it is very important to eliminate any air in the storage of guacamole as well.

Now that Fresh & Easy's London-based parent, Tesco is pulling the plug on it's ill-fated UnitedRead More States grocery expedition, what would you like to see take the place of the recently opened Fresh & Easy store site? This Fresh & Easy Express location should close in sometime in January, no later than the end of February. As of today, no one has expressed interest in the Encino location, primarily because of it's small size. German-based Aldi (and parent company of Trader Joe's) is expected to take the majority of the traditional-sized Fresh & Easy locations, with a scattered few going to the likes of the expanding Family Dollar and Dollar General chains, while other locations will just close. The Encino location is just too small for an Aldi store, let alone of it's Trader Joe's stores to take the place of the soon to be shuttered Fresh & Easy Express location. By the way, have any of you shopped the F&E Express Encino location? Any thoughts? Do you like/dis-like the concept? SO_CAL_RETAIL_SLUT
