Geoffrey Nielsen is a Redondo Beach resident who was born and raised in the South Bay. Nielsen has been involved in the South Bay sporting community his entire life following in his father's footsteps, Coach Jim Nielsen. The writer has worked for several local newspapers covering prep sports as well as working as a coach and high school game official in the sports of football, basketball and baseball.
